Architectural accessibility

Information on architectural accessibility of the buildings of the Institute of Organic Chemistry PAS in Warsaw (Kasprzaka 44/52, 01-224 Warsaw) with an indication of possible difficulties in access and use for people with disabilities.

The scientific entity named Institute of Organic Chemistry PAS is located in Warsaw at Kasprzaka 44/52 Street in two buildings closely connected with each other (permanent connectors) and the building housing the administration with the conference room and the adjacent building of the doctoral hotel. The library and lecture hall are located in a building shared with the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. These buildings are in very close proximity.

The main entrance to the Institute’s premises is located in the building belonging to the IPC PAS from Kasprzaka Street on the ground floor without any stairs. The entrance provides free access to the building for the disabled, directly from the sidewalk, with no architectural restrictions. Additionally, there is a reception service there.

The complex of laboratory buildings is located on different levels (underground, ground floor and first floor) connected with each other by lifts, a stair platform and stairs. The basic entrance to the laboratory buildings is on the ground floor, with steps and a stair platform. Additional entrances are located at the ends of the laboratory buildings and also serve as emergency exits; one with stairs or an elevator, the next on level zero with three steps. There is a reception desk at the main entrance.

From the main entrance to the Institute you can get to the library and the stairs to the lecture hall on the first floor. In order to get to the laboratory complex on foot, you need to walk outside 150 meters on footpaths without differences in levels. In order to get to the administration building and the conference room on foot, walk outside 50 meters. The entrance to the building is equipped with a driveway. The conference room is on the ground floor with no stairs. The offices in the administration building are located on the first floor. There is a toilet on the ground floor in the administration building, which is not adapted to the needs of the disabled.

The individual laboratories on the floors are single-level.

It is possible to enter the Institute by car through the gate from Płocka Street after prior contact with an employee of the gatehouse at the entrance. In the parking lot for visitors, there are two separate and marked parking spaces for disabled people. Another parking space is located at the back of the administration building in the internal parking lot.

Access to the Institute premises: about 200 m from the main entrance there is a ZTM bus stop. The timetable of individual lines indicates courses carried out by low-floor vehicles. The people assigned to help with the entrance of disabled people to the building are the reception staff at the main entrance.

Support for the hard-of-hearing – no possibility of supporting people who are hard-of-hearing / hearing impaired in sign language.

It is possible to enter the Institute premises with an assistance dog.

Possible difficulties in access and use for people with disabilities

The distance between the main entrance to the Institute and the entrances to the laboratory and administrative complex may be a possible inconvenience of approximately 150-200 m.

Difficult access to the lecture hall and offices in the administration building for people with reduced mobility. The auditorium and offices can be accessed via internal stairs.

No toilets adapted for disabled people.
