Near-infrared CD (NIR-CD) spectroscopy is one of the most advanced chiroptical techniques for investigating the three-dimensional structure, conformation, and molecular interactions of chiral compounds and materials. In contrast to conventional ECD spectroscopy, NIR-CD provides information on vibronic transitions as well as overtone and combination bands of molecular vibrations, making it a particularly valuable tool for the analysis of complex chiral molecular systems and functional materials.

Jasco J-1700 NIR-CD spectrometer runs in the 900–2500 nm spectral range and can be coupled with an Oxford cryostat, enabling measurements of both solutions and solid samples at temperatures down to –196°C.

CPL spectra allow for the determination of the luminescence dissymmetry factor (g-lum), which enables a quantitative interpretation of circularly polarized light emission.
