The publication A crystalline tri-thorium cluster with σ-aromatic metal – metal bonding Nature questions the accepted definition of aromaticity. The authors presented a novel approach to assigning aromatic character to crystalline structures with heavy metals such as thorium compounds. Dr. Cina Foroutan-Nejad from the IOC PAS in the article: [{Th (C8H8) Cl2} 3] 2− is stable but not aromatic Nature discusses the presented results.
