A joint article by Prof. Jacek Młynarski and Prof. Bartosz Grzybowski on computer-predicted tactical combinations for advanced organic syntheses was awarded by the American Chemical Society (Chemical and Engineering News) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (Chemistry World). “Total synthesis can sometimes seem more like art than science, especially when a chemist introduces a step that doesn’t seem to get a molecule closer to the desired end product, but after another step, turns out to set up a crucial transformation.”
