Funding Opportunities

Objective: Support for the implementation of a scientific activity, defined as conducting preliminary research or undertaking a research visit.

Duration: up to 12 months; PI: researchers who obtained a PhD degree no earlier than 1 January 2014 and have at least one scientific publication; Scope: basic research in any discipline, projects must fall within one of the 26 NCN panels; NCN Mentoring: Applicants may plan to receive support from an NCN mentor to prepare a full research proposal for other NCN funding schemes.

Funding: from PLN 5,000 to PLN 50,000 per project

Call for research projects addressed to researchers who are not PhD holders. Basic research proposals may be submitted to the call in any of 26 NCN panels.
Projects duration: 12 months, 24 months or 36 months. Maximum funds available in the call amount respectively to PLN 70,000, PLN 140,000 or PLN 210,000

call for research projects addressed to researchers at any stage of their research career. Projects may be carried out over a period of 12, 24, 36 or 48 months.

Projects can be carried out:

– in collaboration with partners from foreign research institutions;
– without foreign participation;
– with the use of large-scale international research infrastructure by the Polish research teams.

Additional restriction: in this edition of NCN calls, a researcher can be designated as the principal investigator only once, in either an OPUS proposal or PRELUDIUM proposal.

Objective: to support international mobility of PhD students by enabling the fellowships in European and non-European academic centres, Internships: 3 to 6 months;

For whom:  PhD students

Submission of applications: depending on edition, on a continuous basis until December of the coming years up to 2028, but not later than 3 months before the planned visit.

Objective: Support for researchers – Bekker NAWA fellows – returning to Poland after a minimum 18-month research stay abroad, with the aim of establishing a new, independent research team. The funding covers the researcher’s salary only; research costs are not eligible.

Eligible applicants: Polish research institutions employing researchers returning from abroad. The institution must employ the researcher full-time for at least 12 months; Project duration: 12 months; Funding: 102,000 PLN (gross-gross) for the researcher’s salary

Continuous call: 02.06.2025 – 03.11.2026, 15:00

Objective: The aim of the call for proposals is to support the mobility of researchers carrying out research projects agreed and conducted jointly by eligible applicants from Poland and partners from Germany. Applications may be submitted by research and higher education institutions.

Project funds: up to 40 000 PLN
Additional requirements: Applications for the joint project must be submitted by the German partners to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

Objective: The aim of the call for proposals is to support the mobility of researchers carrying out research projects agreed and conducted jointly by eligible applicants from Poland and partners from France. Applications may be submitted by research and higher education institutions.

Project funds: up to 40 000 PLN
Additional requirements: Applications for the joint project must be submitted by the French partners to Campus France.

Eligible applicants: a research organisation or a group of entities comprising research organisations or a group of entities comprising research organisations and enterprises (micro, small or medium-sized), whereby the entrepreneur must act as the leader of the group of entities (national consortium) or of the enterprises alone (micro, small or medium-sized).

Objective: to foster new collaborations between researchers and clinicians and to support original, high-quality projects with strong translational potential. Funded projects are expected to significantly advance the understanding and exploitation of cancer metabolism in clinically relevant settings.

Full proposals: 13.01.2027 at 12:00 CET

Objective: Support for the preparation of “eurogrant” applications to European Union funding programmes (e.g. Horizon Europe, LIFE, COSME, Erasmus+, Creative Europe).

Eligible applicants: Research organizations based in Poland; Project duration: Up to 12 months, aligned with the preparation timeline of the target eurogrant; Funding: Depends on the applicant’s role in the eurogrant proposal: Solo applicant: 20,202 PLN, Consortium coordinator / Work Package leader: 39,601 PLN, Consortium member / partner: 28,490 PLN; Eligible costs: Proposal preparation, feasibility studies, translations, consultancy services, travel, salaries, and partner coordination

Settlement: The project is settled as a lump sum, provided that the submitted eurogrant application receives at least 50% of the total score in the evaluation by the European Commission or other EU funding body.

Call: 12.08.2025 – 03.09.2026, with multiple submission rounds

IMPORTANT: The PARP application must be submitted before the eurogrant proposal is submitted to the European Commission.

Objective: to implement doctoral programmes by partnerships of organisations from different sectors across Europe and beyond to train highly skilled doctoral candidates, stimulate their creativity, enhance their innovation capacities and boost their employability in the long-term.

For whom: organisations from the academic and non-academic sectors

DEADLINE: 24.11.2026

Objective: to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD and who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary mobility. The standard duration of these fellowships must be between 12 and 24 months

For whom: organisations from the academic and non-academic sectors. Note: at the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree.

Objective: support excellent Principal Investigators that are established research leaders

For whom: active researchers who have a track-record of significant research achievements.

The Principal Investigators should be exceptional leaders in terms of originality and significance of their research contributions. No specific eligibility criteria with respect to the academic requirements are foreseen.

Deadline: 27.08.2026

Objective: facilitating exploration of the commercial and social innovation potential of ERC funded research and are therefore available only to Principal Investigators whose proposals draw substantially on their ERC funded research.

For whom: All Principal Investigators in one of the ERC frontier research main grants (Starting, Consolidator, Advanced or Synergy) are eligible to participate and apply for an ERC Proof of Concept Grant.

Objective:  support coherent portfolios of projects within predefined thematic areas with the aim to achieve specific objectives for each Challenge. Challenges: Advanced Materials for Miniaturised Energy Harvesting System

For whom: Consortia of at least 3 different independent legal entities established in different countries or single applicants

Submission of applications: on a continuous basis, the commission meets three times a year – in March, July, and November

Objective: a trip to the USA lasting between 2 and 6 weeks, for carrying out a research project, deliver teaching sessions as well as gain an understanding of how American academic institutions operate and learn about the principles of commercialising research.

Objective: the Chemistry Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences established, in 2025, an annual, nationwide award for outstanding achievements in the popularisation of chemistry
