Funding Opportunities

Objective: Support for the implementation of a scientific activity, defined as conducting preliminary research or undertaking a research visit.

Duration: up to 12 months; PI: researchers who obtained a PhD degree no earlier than 1 January 2014 and have at least one scientific publication; Scope: basic research in any discipline, projects must fall within one of the 26 NCN panels; NCN Mentoring: Applicants may plan to receive support from an NCN mentor to prepare a full research proposal for other NCN funding schemes.

Funding: from PLN 5,000 to PLN 50,000 per project

Under GRIEG BIS (financed from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2021 – 2028), research projects may be planned for a period of 36 months. Funding is available for international partnerships led by Polish research organisations, involving at least one partner from the EEA Countries: Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein. The Principal Investigator must be at least a PhD holder at the time of submission. The call is open to all research fields and topics, but proposals must address challenges within at least one of the three priority areas:

  • the European green transition,
  • democracy, the rule of law, and human rights,
  • social inclusion and resilience.

The minimum amount of grant is 800 000 EUR and the maximum amount is 1 500 000 EUR.

Objective: The Coordination and Capacity Kick-off call is a preparatory initiative intended to support the development of project concepts for the upcoming LANGSPIL Interdisciplinary Call (EEA and Norway Grants).

The Kick-off grants support Polish research teams, particularly those led by early-career researchers, in:

-Forming international partnerships with collaborators from the EEA countries to address complex research challenges.

– Developing interdisciplinary projects concepts with potential to be submitted as proposals under the LANGSPIL call.

Note: the submission of applications in the subsequent LANGSPIL Call will remain optional.

The LANGSPIL call, scheduled for launch in November 2026 with a submission deadline in early 2027, will focus on interdisciplinary basic research. With a total budget of 12,000,000 EUR, the call will support 3-year projects that integrate multiple disciplines, with a particular emphasis on the methodologies and approaches of the social sciences and humanities. Projects will be implemented through bilateral collaboration between Poland and the Donor States, addressing complex challenges in at least one of the following priority areas: the European green transition; democracy, rule of law, and human rights; or social inclusion and resilience.

DEADLINE: 1.09.2026, 14:00 CEST, (IOC PAS DEADLINE: 17.08.2026)

Objective: to conduct pioneering research, including interdisciplinary research, which is significant for the development of science, goes beyond the current state-of-the-art and may result in scientific discoveries.

Duration: 36, 48 or 60 months.

PI: at least a PhD holder who, in the proposal submission year or within the last 10 years (the period may be extended by evidenced career breaks, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the call) prior to the proposal submission year:

  1. has had at least five papers published in renowned Polish or international academic press/journals;
  2. has acted as the principal investigator in at least two research projects funded under national or international calls for proposals;
  3. meets at least three of the following criteria:
    1. has been a member of a scientific committee of at least one prestigious international conference,
    2. has published at least one monograph,
    3. has presented papers at prestigious international conferences,
    4. has received an international award or prize,
    5. has been a member of prestigious associations, international scientific organisations or academies,
    6. has other significant scientific achievements;

Scope: basic research proposals may be submitted to the call in any of 26 NCN panels.

DEADLINE: 15.09.2026, 14:00 CEST (IOC PAS DEADLINE: 1.09.2026)

Objective: for researchers with a PhD conferred within 5 to 12 years before the proposal submission year who intend to create a new research team to conduct basic research projects.

Duration: 36, 48 or 60 months.

PI: must be a researcher with a PhD awarded within 5 to 12 years prior to the proposal submission year (the period may be extended by evidenced career breaks, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the call). For this call it is the period from 01.01.2014 to 31.12.2021.

Scope: basic research proposals may be submitted to the call in any of 26 NCN panels.

DEADLINE: 15.09.2026, 14:00 CEST (IOC PAS DEADLINE: 1.09.2026)

Objective: to promote cooperation between Lithuanian and Polish researchers in conducting fundamental research

Duration: 36 months.

PI: The principal investigator in the Polish research team must be at least a PhD holder when submitting a proposal. The PI will manage the work of the Polish research team.

Scope: basic research proposals may be submitted to the call in any of 26 NCN panels.

Objective: to support international mobility of PhD students by enabling the fellowships in European and non-European academic centres, Internships: 3 to 6 months;

For whom:  PhD students

Submission of applications: depending on edition, on a continuous basis until December of the coming years up to 2028, but not later than 3 months before the planned visit.

Objective: Support for researchers – Bekker NAWA fellows – returning to Poland after a minimum 18-month research stay abroad, with the aim of establishing a new, independent research team. The funding covers the researcher’s salary only; research costs are not eligible.

Eligible applicants: Polish research institutions employing researchers returning from abroad. The institution must employ the researcher full-time for at least 12 months; Project duration: 12 months; Funding: 102,000 PLN (gross-gross) for the researcher’s salary

Continuous call: 02.06.2025 – 03.11.2026, 15:00

Objective: The aim of the call for proposals is to support the mobility of researchers carrying out research projects agreed and conducted jointly by eligible applicants from Poland and partners from Germany. Applications may be submitted by research and higher education institutions.

Project funds: up to 40 000 PLN
Additional requirements: Applications for the joint project must be submitted by the German partners to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

Objective: The aim of the call for proposals is to support the mobility of researchers carrying out research projects agreed and conducted jointly by eligible applicants from Poland and partners from France. Applications may be submitted by research and higher education institutions.

Project funds: up to 40 000 PLN
Additional requirements: Applications for the joint project must be submitted by the French partners to Campus France.

DEADLINE: 30.06.2026, 15:00 (IOC PAS DEADLINE: 16.06.2026)

Objective: to foster new collaborations between researchers and clinicians and to support original, high-quality projects with strong translational potential. Funded projects are expected to significantly advance the understanding and exploitation of cancer metabolism in clinically relevant settings.

call for bilateral projects under the Programme “Applied research and innovation”

Objective: to improve the quality of scientific research in Poland and to strengthen international cooperation in the field of research and innovation.

The call is not thematically restricted – it is not limited to any specific field.

Projects must address at least one of the EEA Grants priorities (European green transition; democracy, rule of law and human rights; social inclusion and resilience).

Funding per project ranges from EUR 1,000,000 to EUR 1,750,000. The duration of projects is 36 months.

For whom: Applications can be submitted by Project Consortia. The Project Consortium shall consist of:
•    at least one entity from Poland – the Project Promoter and
•    at least one research organisation from the Donor States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway).

Applications for funding may be submitted from 17.09.2026 (10:00:00 CEST) until 17.12.2026 (15:00:00 CET)

Objective: to develop critical technologies and technologies aimed at protecting and strengthening the relevant value chains of critical technologies in the biotechnology sector. Under this call for proposals, funding may be awarded to research and development projects that bring an innovative, state-of-the-art or breakthrough element with significant economic potential to the EU internal market.

Who can apply: consortia, which may comprise: SMEs, large enterprises (including small mid-caps and mid-caps), research organisations or non-governmental organisations

Implementation period: until 31 December 2030

Deadline: 07.09.2026 r., 16.00 CEST, (IOC PAS deadline: 24.08.2026)

Objective: to develop critical technologies and technologies aimed at protecting and strengthening the relevant value chains for critical technologies in the biotechnology sector, including critical medicinal products and their ingredients.

Under this call for proposals, funding may be awarded to research and development projects that contribute to reducing or eliminating the European Union’s strategic dependence.

Eligible applicants: (among others) consortia comprising: SMEs, large enterprises (including small mid-caps and mid-caps), research organisations or non-governmental organisations

Implementation period: until 31 December 2030

Deadline: 16 September 2026, 4.00 pm; (deadline for the IOC, PAS: 1 September 2026)

Objective: Support for the preparation of “eurogrant” applications to European Union funding programmes (e.g. Horizon Europe, LIFE, COSME, Erasmus+, Creative Europe).

Eligible applicants: Research organizations based in Poland; Project duration: Up to 12 months, aligned with the preparation timeline of the target eurogrant; Funding: Depends on the applicant’s role in the eurogrant proposal: Solo applicant: 20,202 PLN, Consortium coordinator / Work Package leader: 39,601 PLN, Consortium member / partner: 28,490 PLN; Eligible costs: Proposal preparation, feasibility studies, translations, consultancy services, travel, salaries, and partner coordination

Settlement: The project is settled as a lump sum, provided that the submitted eurogrant application receives at least 50% of the total score in the evaluation by the European Commission or other EU funding body.

Call: 12.08.2025 – 03.09.2026, with multiple submission rounds

IMPORTANT: The PARP application must be submitted before the eurogrant proposal is submitted to the European Commission.

Objective: to implement doctoral programmes by partnerships of organisations from different sectors across Europe and beyond to train highly skilled doctoral candidates, stimulate their creativity, enhance their innovation capacities and boost their employability in the long-term.

For whom: organisations from the academic and non-academic sectors

DEADLINE: 24.11.2026

Objective: to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD and who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary mobility. The standard duration of these fellowships must be between 12 and 24 months

For whom: organisations from the academic and non-academic sectors. Note: at the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree.

Objective: support excellent Principal Investigators that are established research leaders

For whom: active researchers who have a track-record of significant research achievements.

The Principal Investigators should be exceptional leaders in terms of originality and significance of their research contributions. No specific eligibility criteria with respect to the academic requirements are foreseen.

Deadline: 27.08.2026

Objective: facilitating exploration of the commercial and social innovation potential of ERC funded research and are therefore available only to Principal Investigators whose proposals draw substantially on their ERC funded research.

For whom: All Principal Investigators in one of the ERC frontier research main grants (Starting, Consolidator, Advanced or Synergy) are eligible to participate and apply for an ERC Proof of Concept Grant.

Objective:  support coherent portfolios of projects within predefined thematic areas with the aim to achieve specific objectives for each Challenge. Challenges: Advanced Materials for Miniaturised Energy Harvesting System

Objective: a trip to the USA lasting between 2 and 6 weeks, for carrying out a research project, deliver teaching sessions as well as gain an understanding of how American academic institutions operate and learn about the principles of commercialising research.

Objective: European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Scientific Exchange Grants fund research visits of one week (seven days) up to three months (90 days) between laboratories in EMBC Member States and EMBC/EMBO Global Partners

The KF Exchange Program to the US is designed for Polish scholars who want to conduct field or archival research, visit a lab, complete an artist residency or artistic project, or teach in US institutions.

Who can apply: Polish citizens who are PhD students, academic scholars, advanced post-doctoral fellows, instructors, assistant professors, researchers, and artists.

The Kosciuszko Foundation Fellowships for:

  • postdoctoral research in the U.S. for 3 – 6 months
  • advanced post-doctoral fellows, instructors and assistant professors (or equivalent)
  • must hold a doctorate degree at the time of application

The Kosciuszko Foundation Grants for:
