Research activity

[4+2]Cycloaddition and organometallic addition reactions, using optically active aldehydes are investigated, and the results are applied to the synthesis of natural products with special emphasis laid on sugars and antibiotics. Particular attention is devoted to the stereocontrolled reactions accelerated by high pressure. New methods of the synthesis of coronands, cryptands, and related compounds, including the high pressure approach, are studied. Application of the macrocyclic products to various problems of supramolecular chemistry is also investigated. X-Ray structural and conformational studies, as well as advanced NMR investigations supporting synthetic project are conducted.
